So glad that people are posting here. To all - Also call the Dirt Bike Hotline at 203-946-6463. Try to get pics and post them. If that's not possible, post more identifying information such as driver identification - race, clothes color, etc, as well as bike descriptions - color, type, etc. As much info as possible. And if you know where the riders live, or their hangouts, post that as well.
Great job folks! As citizens we must not give up on reporting this, the police WILL act with good leads. Especially now that the City understands that people are UTTERLY fed up with this issue! Also sign the petition, it's up to over 215 signatures from New Haveners like yourselves that are done with the Mayor's inaction. Mayor: give your PD the tools it needs to do it's job and stop passing on the responsibility!
It worked! The police showed up with 3 flat bed tow trucks and confiscated all the ATVs that terrorized the the streets of New Haven. One small victory for the people.
Excellent! We need to keep on this, all over the city. The problem is, most of these "kids" are really street gangs, who have no lack of money to buy new vehicles, due to their drug trafficking and human trafficking (prostitution) incomes.
I will be closing dirt bike/ATV complaints that pre-date the conclusion of the police undercover operation (see www.newhavenindependent.org/index.php/archives/entry/9_arrested_in_dirt_bike_sting/). I do not expect the dirt bike/ATV issue to be completely solved, but it will be helpful to policing efforts to distinguish new reports from those before this recent operation.
Please open up new SCF issues as dirt bike/ATV issues re-occur.
